Shin-ah glanced at Yuuki, his lips forming a frown. But, he looked back at the leader, his hand reaching to touch his mask. The bells that hung from the right horn jingled. Should I take it off?
Hachiro looked up at Shin-ah as he moved his hand towards his mask in interest, wondering if he'd take it off. He'd never seen the man's face before. Why does he keep on a mask? He crossed his arms over his knees, resting his chin on his pale hands. "How did you two meet?" He asked, watching as villagers sparred with each other. "Nam and you, I mean, of course."
Hachiro felt disappointed as he decided not to take the mask off. He nodded. Shin-ah clearly wasn't a talkitave type. "What about you and Ao? How did you two meet? The human, I mean."
Shin-ah paused, his thoughts going back to when Ao was alive. He had acted cold around him, but he knew that the former Seiryuu did love him like a son. When he went blind, Shin-ah put on the bells he had on now. "He was the Seiryuu before me. My mentor."
Hachiro nodded, understanding. That almost described Daisuke, the former tribe leader. He had only lived and trained under him for a year or two after his father had died, but Daisuke had still taken care of him. "Would you like to spar?" He inquired, standing and brushing off his pants. He made sure the squirrel wouldn't fall off his shoulder. "I could use some practice fighting another person."
Shin-ah scooped up the squirrel from his shoulder, placing him on his own shoulder. He grabbed his sword's hilt, drawing it out of the sheath. He held it, cutting the air a few times before nodding. "Sure."
Hachiro quietly told Yuuki to stay as he stood, heading towards Shin-ah. Some of the training villagers sent him odd, disgusted looks, but he didn't mind. He drew his sword, a long, gleaming one with the markings of his father's family. He rubbed the hilt and ran his finger along the flat part of the blade, before readying himself. "Are you good with a sword?"
Shin-ah then paused, lowering the sword. He looked at Ao. He couldn't fight with the squirrel on him. So, he did what he would usually never do. He sheathed his sword, raising his hands to his mask. He pulled it over his head, lifting his face. He set it on the ground with the fur, putting Ao inside it to keep him warm.
He looked back at Hachiro, the red marks beneath his yellow, dragon-like eyes glistening from his sweat. He then drew his sword, reminding himself not to use his powers. "It's my weapon of choice." His short blue hair ruffled in the breeze. He could hear how quiet it had gone after he took his mask off.
Hachiro tilted his head, lowering his sword as Shin-ah took off his mask and settled Ao inside of it. The villagers stared with mouth agape, but he just grinned. Hopefully, it was a sign that the dragon trusted him. "My father taught me when I was young, and then my mentor once my father died," he said.
He got back into position, taking a moment to study the dragon. He had short blue hair and yellow, dragon-like eyes and red marks underneath his eyes. "I think I like you better without your mask," he gave a light laugh, pushing his pale hair out of the way. "You look less...frightening. Not that you frightened me before. Better looking, too." No, he wasn't gay.
Shin-ah held up his sword at the other Water Tribesman. "After my mother died, Ao took me in. He taught me the ways of the sword so I wouldn't fight with my powers. I am glad he did. I've used them once against an army when I was little." The dragon lowered his sword, holding it beside him.
"I think everyone here would like me with my mask on. I'm cursed, remember?" Without speaking, the Blue Dragon moved forward in a swift movement. He was known for his skills with a sword, and he hoped that this man could fight as well as he could. Hopefully he was as fast as water like Shin-ah was. Or else, he may die.
"That's one thing we have in common. My mother died when I was young - she became ill," he shrugged, but her death had hit him hard. He had shut himself into his room until his father had finally coaxed him out. His mother had been his life because his father had to work. But when she died, his father could only take care of him part of the time, so he could only work part-time. That's when they started losing money, which was all before he had been leader, of course.
"An army? Wow. Who won?" He inquired curiously. "Psh. Cursed," he wasn't even sure it was true. Even if it was, he didn't care. Shin-ah wasn't the only one who was skilled with a sword. He danced gracefully out of the way, then lunged forward, aiming for Shin-ah's shoulder.
Shin-ah listened to what he had to say. "My mother killed herself." he said in a blunt tone. "Ao didn't butter it up when he told me." The Blue Dragon hardly ever had children with people. He wasn't related to Ao. Instead, the Blue Dragon would pop up in children of the tribe members if the dragon hadn't had children. Since they were "cursed", many of the mothers killed themselves for bringing curses into the world.
Shin-ah shrugged. "I did. No one walked away." It was something he took pride in at all. He was still disgusted for doing it. He then saw Hashiro's blow, moving to the side. He lifted his blade, clashing it with the leader's blade.
Hachiro frowned. "I'm sorry," he replied. It was clearly Shin-ah's fault that she killed herself, but could there be any worse reason? He was just a normal boy, with a few extra things thrown in here and there. Why was he the Cursed One? Why not Nam, or Tatiana?
"Hm. You don't seemed to pleased, do you? I do not blame you," he shrugged. "But, you did save millions of lives that could be lost, even if you did lose millions that weren't our own." Their blades gleamed in the sunlight, or what was eft of sunlight these days, as they touched. After a few moments, the leader jumped away, sword in hand, then darted forward. He ducked, swinging the sword at Shin-ah's stomach.
Shin-ah gave a snort. "I don't understand why you say that." he said, referring to his apology. He didn't do anything. So, why say sorry? The blue-haired boy moved his body away from the blow, blinking his yellow eyes.
"While I saved lives, I destroyed about equal of the ones here. But, it was the only way. I vowed to never use my power like that again." He didn't know how to use his power, though. Sure, he could bring water during dry seasons, but in what other ways?
