Her chains clinked together as she walked up to the shrine, kneeling down in front of it. It was the shrine built for the yellow dragon and many more yellow dragons to pass on the tradition. The red-haired girl was new around the Lightning Tribe. She was originally a slave from Malaysia and then she was sold over to her current master that lived in one of the four tribes in Korea. There was a lot of talk about the four tribes. Each tribe had a dragon.
Was it a real dragon? Or, something like a dragon warrior kind of thing? Either one, Morgiana heard that many people would come to the shrine to pray for a blessed, safe trip or good health and fortune. Hey, she felt like it wouldn't hurt to pay the dragon a visit. She believed that it would help her get through the life of being a slave. She needed something to believe in. Of course, she always knew that she was fooling herself in the end. There was no hope in getting out of slavery.
The girl knelt there and bowed her head, closing her eyes and thinking of what she should say. It still felt useless to pray if her future wasn't getting any brighter. "Dear dragon, my name is Yuena. I do not expect for you to pity me. Actually, I dislike being pitied. I am a slave transferred over from Malaysia... I have always wondered what I have done wrong.
Did my parents sell me away? Was I not good enough? Or, was I simply just taken away because that was supposed to happen? I... I don't really know what to ask for. But, if you could, dear dragon... lend me your wings of hope and light during the darkest times.."
Nam had just been over at the temple dealing with some priests. He was heading towards the shrine when he saw someone heading towards it as well. He raised a brow and followed. He hid behind a statue and began listening as she spoke. Is this another villager praying to me for wealth again or- His eyes widened a bit as she continued to speak. She's a slave to someone? Nam didn't know how to react.
Wings of hope.. Light.. I think I'm biting off more than I can chew for this.. He came out of his hiding spot and walked over. "That's a tall order for the dragon isn't it?" Nam approached and placed a hand on the shrine.
"I'm not sure how entirely useful the dragon will be to you." He added. "You mentioned being a slave?" He tilted his head. "Why not abandon your master?" He inquired.
He gave a calm smile. "Alright.. I'll stop playing pretend. My name is Nam Youg-sun. You've requested my assistance? I am the yellow dragon of the lightning tribe. I am here to protect the tribe and it's inhabitants. What were you looking for me to do? I do not have answers for your questions but I can try and do what I can to help you, and bring you this light you seek within your dark hours."
A chill went up her spine, and she hesitated as the man came out from behind the shrine. Who was he and what was he doing behind the shrine? Was he listening in on the prayers? It was so embarrassing! Morgiana hurried herself to stand up, and she ended up tripping on her chains and fell down. The girl let out a huff and hesitated as she picked herself up slowly. She patted her tattered and worn out dress with both of her hands.
Her master was supposed to get her some new clothes. The clothes she wore from Malaysia wouldn't work for her master. He treated her poorly, but at least he was getting her some nice clothes. Maybe he was just dressing her up for himself. Men were filthy... Morgiana was speechless. The man asked her why she didn't abandon her master. Yes, she had the strength to defend herself and run away, but there would be no escape.
There would be nowhere for her to go. Her family was gone and she was alone. They would chase her down like an animal. Then, she would really get punished. She remained silent and wasn't planning to say much. It would also be wrong for her to talk about her master in a negative way. "Um... Please, forgive me. I was being selfish.. I didn't mean to trouble you, sir Yellow Dragon. I just... needed something to believe in I suppose.."
His gaze softened and he crossed his arms. "No. Don't go apologizing now." He took his hand off of the shrine. "You aren't any trouble and you are not at all selfish. I want to help you." He lowered onto one knee in a bow. "I will be as of much service to you as I can." He looked at her.
"I think the thing you need to believe in is yourself in harsh times. I don't have much of a divine power to change the future and I cannot conjure up gold to aid the hungry but I can do my best." He nodded.
"Is there anything you can think of that I can do to assist you?" He touched the tip of his blades and narrowed his eyes. "If this master of yours is a dishonourable man I can certainly put an end to that, if you wish."
Morgiana looked up at him with sparkling, red eyes. W-What? That was something she wasn't used to. Her master would usually scream at her for doing everything wrong. No, she didn't ever do things fast enough or do it exactly perfect. She would end up apologizing for doing the things her master told her to do. It was confusing. She could actually do more if it wasn't for the stupid chains connecting her hands and feet close together.
The girl backed away from Nam and looked to the side, glancing back at him a few times. Why did I come here? It's not like me to ask other people to do things for me. I have to follow orders. It's the only thing I know to do. Nam had lowered down onto one knee in a bow. Morgiana looked back at him and blushed, shaking her head. "What are you doing? I-I should be kneeling before you." she said and got down on her knees in front of him. She listened to him tell her what she needed to do.
Man, he was making her regret asking him for so much. It's not like she meant to. She didn't know what to ask for in the first place. It was okay. The dragon didn't have to apologize or regret not having enough power to help everyone with their problems. Morgiana felt awful for making it feel like that. "I guess I just didn't expect you to actually... listen. And, no.. He is being nice enough already buying new clothes for me. I just need to worker harder, that's all."
When she lowered into a bow he was caught off guard. He got up and extended his hand to help her up. "There isn't any need for that." As she spoke he narrowed his eyes.
"Is that so..?" He raised a brow. "So, was he the one responsible for these chains? Is that what kindness is supposed to look like. Because if it is I'm not buying it." His yellow eyes looked into hers.
"Would you like me to break these chains?" Usually he'd voluntarily do as he pleased and would of broken these himself without even asking. But he didn't want to maybe startle her or get her in some sort of trouble.
"Even if he's lavishing you with some clothing, you don't deserve to be put.. in these chains. For a human being to be..." He gripped his swords.
U-Uh.. Why is he so kind? Most people would ignore people like me. I think it's because they don't want anything to do with it. I can't blame them. People had themselves to worry about. They weren't going to stand up for the slaves. It wasn't their problem unless it effected them and others they cared about. Morgiana reached out and took Nam's hand, standing up on her feet.
She glanced down at the chains cuffing her ankles and then she looked at the chains that cuffed her wrists. Yeah, of course, he would be responsible for the chains. Most masters used chains for their own reasons like claiming a slave as their own or chaining them down to keep them close. It would be hard for her to run away with those short chains on her ankles.
It was the exact length for her to just walk. She looked back up at Nam and glanced back down at her chains, shaking her head. "No.. I will get in trouble. Even if you did and I could run away, I wouldn't have anywhere to go." Ugh, Nam really didn't understand. But, how do I expect him to understand? He hasn't been tortured. He hasn't been locked up and chained down. It makes you feel... so weak."I can't handle it any other way. This is the only way I know. Grin and bare it.. I guess you could say."
He leaned up against the shrine and crossed his arms. He looked pretty deep in thought for a moment. "If you'd like.." He looked back up then back at her. "You could stay with me for a while until you could manage on your own." He lifted a brow. His face flushed a minor red. "I mean.. not with me, but here I mean. You could stay at the temple for a while until you get that horrible guy off your back."
He put his hands in his pocket. "I'm not going to lie like most people would and say that I understand what your going through because I don't. I'm sure there is pain but I've dealt with pain probably much different than yours." He shrugged his shoulders and gave a small sigh.
He looked back at her. "I want to help you, but I'm not sure how. The offer still stands for you to stay here, and you'd be safe. But that's all up to you. You may still fear he will have hold over you."

Tears rolled down her cheeks and she shook her head full of red hair, wiping away the tears that constantly flowed one after the other. Nam was being so nice. He was going to give her a place to live. It would be nicer than the broken down house she lived in. Her master wouldn't let her live in his home and that was normal. Anyway, she was crying because she was so happy about the thought. It only got worse when she realized she couldn't live there. Morgiana wiped her tears away and looked at Nam, listening closely as he spoke to her about pain.
"That is the thing. Maybe I'm not grateful enough for the things I have because... I know there are people out there in the world that are hurting even more mentally.. and physically." It was a tough subject to talk about, but she was actually enjoying it. She had someone to talk to about it besides herself. The girl thought about it a little bit more. The Yellow Dragon was offering her a much better home than the home she lived in. Not many people get that lucky, and they would take it. But, would she get caught later on? Would the Yellow Dragon get in trouble for sheltering a slave?
"N-No.. I can't. I don't want you to get in trouble, Yellow Dragon. The people might shun you for doing this. The ones that are afraid to speak out for themselves. They will side with the bad guys."
When she started crying his eyes widened a bit. "...Are you okay?" He looked a little concerned. "Even so.. You still deserve to live a good life, just like anyone else in this tribe, or even outside of this kingdom." He rubbed the back of his head.
"Really.. I wouldn't be offering if I didn't mind. You don't have to worry." A wide childish grin spread across his face. "I get myself in my own trouble as it is, what's a little more? Listen I'm not worried about what they do. Right now I'm more concerned with your circumstances. You have already declined my offer, but if you ever reconsider just come looking for me."
Nam wanted to help her out. But offering shelter was the only idea he had right now. He relayed the thought of her going home and ending up going back to whatever horrors awaited her. He gripped his clothing with frustration. "Don't leave.." He muttered.

The Yellow Dragon was right. Morgiana still deserved a good life. She was obedient and did everything her masters told her to do. They still disrespected her. Yeah, maybe she wasn't having it as bad as other people, but that didn't mean it didn't hurt. Ugh, Nam was being too nice to her. It bothered her to be treated like that. It wasn't... normal for her. Normal was being ordered around and being yelled at for being a failure.
The Yellow Dragon had nothing to worry about. It would just be a problem he couldn't solve. Morgiana would go on with her life and he would go on with his. She watched Nam and blinked at him. What did he say? Her gaze softened and she glanced around nervously. "Well... um.. If you wouldn't mind me... staying." She sighed and started to play with her chains on her wrists uncomfortably. If I do this, I'll be disrespecting my master. I have never done that before. I-I don't want to.. but maybe this way, I can be free.
